The CISC BC Region Steel Design Awards of Excellence were presented as part of a gala reception November 19, 2009 at Vancouver’s Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.

Architectural Award
Steel Buildings or structures in which architectural considerations predominantly influence the design, particularly those with exposed steelwork. (All building types and bridges.)

Engineering Award
Steel structures in which engineering considerations and the efficient use of steel in unique applications are the predominant factor. (All building types and bridges.)

Krentz Award
Special recognition of an extraordinary design solution in the field of steel construction that demonstrates unique application, successful collaboration and sustainable principles for the benefit of society, the industry and associated professions.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Special recognition of a lifetime dedicated to the advancement and understanding of steel structures in BC and in Canada.

Sustainability Award
Steel structure in which steel has been used or re-used as part of a sustainable development project that aims to improve environmental impact of the structure by using innovative practices, standards and technologies.
