While recognizing those who contribute to the success of Canada’s steel industry, including architects, design engineers and project teams, this exciting event allows us to connect with the leaders of steel innovation!

Award Categories

We encourage all architects, design engineers and project team members who have completed steel projects to submit them under one of the 6 award categories for the consideration of our judges.

Architectural
Buildings or other structures in which architectural considerations predominantly influenced the design of the structure.

Engineering
Buildings, process plants or other structures in which engineering considerations predominantly influenced the design and construction of the structure.

Sustainability
Buildings or other structures in which steel has been reused, recycled or used as part of a sustainable development project i.e. LEED certification. If the projects steel has been recycled, an emphasis should be placed on value of time / money save. If the project is submitted as a sustainable project please include a LEED scorecard or explain the overall impact to the project.

Projects Converted to Steel
Buildings or other structures in which structural steel was chosen over other building material because of its unique qualities. This could be a project where structural steel was used in a project where other building materials could have been used, please explain why steel was chosen, or where steel was used to create an innovative product.

Bridges
Both vehicle and pedestrian bridges are eligible project for this category where Structural Steel in the primary building material. A focus should be made on specific fabrication and erection challenges.
