THE CANADIAN NATIONAL STEEL BRIDGE COMPETITION (CNSBC)
A partnership between
THE CANADIAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS (CSCE)
&
THE CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF STEEL CONSTRUCTION (CISC)

This competition aims to recognize the talent and perseverance of our young students in civil engineering who have invested a lot of energy in the field of the study of steel bridges. Let us not forget that they are the next generation of our industry. It is therefore essential to give our support and show our respect for the engineers that they will be tomorrow.

Saturday May 15th:   Oral Presentations – 9:00 A.M. – 1:15 P.M. EDT

                                                                Award Ceremony – 4:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. EDT

THE COMPETITION

  • Encourages innovation;
  • Allows students to deepen their knowledge with a practical project;
  • This human experience develops their interpersonal skills and professional skills;
  • Creates relationships between students and industry.

As part of this competition, students are expected to use ingenuity throughout the year to develop their project. If you do not already know the competition here are some details: students will design, build, and assemble a structure to present a prototype of a dimension of about 23’x5 ‘, a scale of 1:10 000. They will be evaluated in competition on multiple criteria such as the speed of assembly of the structure, the efficiency of the latter and the architectural aspect.

Meet the Teams

In the spirit of keeping students engaged the 2021 CNSBC will be a unique virtual that should not be missed! This virtual format of the competition will empower students to acquire, demonstrate, and value the knowledge and skills that they will use as the future generation of professional civil engineers. This competition challenges intercollegiate competition that supplements their education with a comprehensive, student-driven project experience from conception and design through fabrication, erection, and testing, culminating in a steel structure that meets client specifications and optimizes performance and economy.
