On February 20, 2018, the Ontario government introduced Bill 194, the Fairness in Procurement Act. If passed, this act protects Ontario businesses by allowing the province to take action as a result of unfair procurement practices in U.S. state and federal projects.

Bill 194 is currently ordered for a Third Reading.

The CISC applauds the Ontario government for taking a leadership role in protecting Canada from one-way trade procurement practices.

Ed Whalen, President and CEO of the CISC, is calling for all provinces and municipalities to follow suit and immediately enact Fairness in Procurement legislation.

The times of one-way trade need to end. Fair and reciprocal trade are not just words, but practice.
