Embody the wind. Inspired by wind harps, Aeolian harnesses the resonant properties of steel to produce an ethereal humming sound driven by the wind. As visitors ascend the structure, they are surrounded by acoustic steel cables and tubes that are carefully tuned to the pentatonic scale. This immersive experience inspires a deep appreciation for the wind’s power. The design features a sleek, spiralling geometry resembling a wind vortex. The repeating steel elements create a sense of rhythm, complementing the soundscape’s melody. The design incorporates a long ramp, enabling people of all abilities to experience the ascent equally. The structure is located along the Dalhousie Mountain Trail, which follows the nearby wind farm roadway. While hikers catch glimpses of the turbines along the trail, Aeolian offers an elevated panoramic view. Each visit offers a unique experience, a new song shaped by the changing winds.
