Job Description
The CISC is looking for a forward-thinking, passionate communications and design coordinator to join our marketing team. The ideal candidate brings experience in web and graphic design, a strong foundation in communications, and a creative approach to strengthening our digital presence.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Responsible for developing and maintaining CISC’s brand identity across all platforms; provide strategic and creative advice to senior management to enhance the organization’s brand.
- Designing, developing, maintaining, integrating, upgrading, updating and troubleshooting the organization’s websites (incorporating updated communications and marketing strategies).
- Planning and designing digital media for email campaigns, publication designs, events (e.g. print signage, digital programs), social media (e.g. shareables), and other materials as required.
- Developing assets for social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook); strategically developing content calendars and regularly posting on platforms.
- Servicing and liaising with all internal departments and association committees and sub-committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
A university or college degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, or digital media, with an emphasis on design and/or digital marketing. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Minimum one to two years of related work experience in marketing and communications or graphic design. Practical experience with navigation and development of websites and social media platforms, digital marketing, content management, graphic design, marketing and/or communications.
Skills:
- Skilled in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) to produce digital materials that is standard AODA compliance.
- Asset: skilled in major web programming languages (e.g. HTML 5.0, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript) to produce web pages, email campaigns, social media content and other media files.
- Knowledge of Search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance and promote website pages, campaigns.
- Experience managing social media platforms, social media scheduling, hashtag mining, and designing for social platforms. Experience using platforms like Sprout Social and Hootsuite to organize social media is an asset.
- Experience with newsletter/email communication platforms such as MailChimp and Constant Contact.
- Experience with building, executing, and monitoring paid digital campaigns on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram platforms in their business manager dashboards.
- Asset: skilled in audio and video editing software to produce video, animations, pages, email campaigns, social media content and other media files.
- Excellent organizational and project/time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate a number of projects simultaneously in response to evolving priorities.
- Ability to proofread and edit work so that minimal feedback is required.
- Working effectively in a team environment while also being highly self-directed.
- Demonstrating a willingness to learn new technology and engage in continuous learning of current and emerging technology and innovations in web design and development.
- French language skills are considered an asset for this position.
Hybrid work environment:
- The ideal candidate will be available to comply with CISC’s in-office policy (subject to change), which requires in-person attendance at the Markham office twice per week.
