We currently have a vacancy for a Plant Manager responsible for the leadership and administration of our plant operations. This position will work with Engineering, Purchasing and Sales to ensure efficient operations, while meeting customer expectations. The Plant Manager oversees staffing, production and the development and direction of the team to drive the growth of production, revenue and the quality of goods produced in the facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, suppliers, vendors, department managers and ensuring the integration of strategic plans within the plant facilities. This is a great role for a supervisor seeking to transition into the overall management of a manufacturing operation.

 

Responsibilities:

Establish the overall vision and direction for the implementation of plant administration including quality and health and safety.
Monitor plant performance against goals and KPI’s to ensure that progress is being made and corrective actions are taken if necessary.
Responsible for appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the facility.
Responsible for recruitment, hiring, terminations and performance management.
Enhance and develop policies, procedures and service systems to meet goals of the facility.
Collaborate with sales and customers on scheduling production of goods.
Ensure products are manufactured as per the company’s quality standards.
Review and approve plans for control of planned output, budget spending, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness and human resources.
Budget preparation and monitoring costs to plan.
Handle customer inquiries and complaints escalated from the departments.
Analyze customer concerns and present options to solve their issue.
Measure and monitor key production and customer service areas.
Manage ERP system for accurate inventory and financial reporting.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience in the manufacturing of steel products and the welding and fitting of custom steel products.
Post-secondary diploma or degree in a business or technical field.
CET designation or equivalent would be considered an asset.
Heavy steel manufacturing experience would be considered an asset.
5+ years of previous supervisory/management experience with proven leadership abilities.
A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization.
Experience working with an ERP system, with Visual Manufacturing being an asset.
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles would be an asset.
