Exact Detailing Ltd. (Exact) is a provider of high quality steel detailing services. Currently, with 54 full-time staff, Exact provides a complete benefit package, deferred profit sharing, and continuous opportunities for advancement. We currently have various Senior Steel Detailing positions available in Victoria BC, Surrey BC, Edmonton AB and Moncton NB.

This is a leadership role in a very progressive environment. The Senior Steel Detailer leads small groups of steel detailers located in-house or through contracted service providers through all aspects of detailing projects. Projects involve from 1-10 employees and/or contractors and are often delivered under tight time frames and precise budgets. Promoting and monitoring effectiveness throughout the project cycle is a key component of this position.

Qualifications

Work Experience
• Minimum of 10 years’ TEKLA experience
• Five or more years’ experience supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
• Project Management experience preferred

Education and Skills
• High level of knowledge of industry standard detailing practices.
• Successful completion of steel detailing training from a recognized college or technical school; preferred structural detailing certificate.
• Proficiency in TEKLA Structures software / Blue Beam software
• Attention to Detail – continually assess work performed and practices to ensure accurate and complete output.
• Continuous Improvement – requirement to understand and keep current with specifications and building codes, industry changes, and software modification as related to steel
fabrication and erection.
• High Quality Customer Service and Communications – excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). This includes clear, punctual, and polite interactions with
clients.

Duties/ Responsibilities

• Develop Tekla models following structural and architectural design drawings;
• Connect members following information supplied by the project EOR and the connection design engineer;
• Consult and supply design alterations to connection engineer on difficult connections;
• Draft concise RFI’s;
• Implement design impacts for changes issued through SI’s and CCN’s;
• Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the activities and operations of project teams;
• Organizing, directing, and controlling detailing and drafting activities in commercial; industrial, resource, transportation, recreation and other sectors;
• Consulting with fabricator and if required liaising with architects and engineers;
• Supporting clients with accurate cut lists and CNC data files for the fabrication process;
• Reviewing information models, engineer prepared drawings and data imports;
• Managing the preparation and coordination of assembly drawings and erection plans;
• Ensuring that completed drawings have been reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with client’s fabrication and erection needs (as per contract).
• Ensure that drawings have been checked for conformity with clients’ and Exacts’ specifications and standards.
• Mentoring junior and intermediate detailers in all aspects of structural steel detailing.
• Promoting continuous improvement and contributing to company-wide policies, standards and procedures, and supporting juniors in increasing their knowledge of Tekla

Structures software and steel detailing in general.
