The CISC Structural Steel Management and Detailing (SSMD) Subsidy Program
(Exclusive to CISC Members and Associates)
The CISC provides financial support to CISC Members and Associates who hire co-op students for their
co-op semester.
The CISC is pleased to announce a new exclusive financial incentive for CISC Members and Associates for the hiring of Conestoga co-op students enrolled in the Structural Steel Management and Detailing (SSMD) program.The CISC SSMD Subsidy Program will be funding up to three (3) awards of $3,000 to eligible CISC Member and Associate companies (for the 2024 fall semester) on a first come basis. (some conditions apply)
Subsidy Program Goals
- Ensure an ongoing source of steel professionals to the steel construction industry.
- Show the value of internal/on-the-job training of incoming steel professionals by the industry to drive success, and
- Safeguard the long-term stability and growth of the steel construction sector.
Criteria
All successful applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be a CISC Member or Associate in Good Standing.
- The applicant must offer employment to a student of Conestoga College’s SSMD program for the student’s co-op semester.
- The student must be currently enrolled in the SSMD program with the co-op option for the co-op semester of September to December 2024 and be in good academic standing with Conestoga College.
- At the time of application, the applicant must confirm having provided an offer/conditional offer of employment to the student for the co-op semester.
Funding Disbursements
Funding payment will be made to the successful applicant upon confirmation from Conestoga College of the successful completion of the co-op semester of the student hired by the applicant.
Application Process
The application site is open. The deadline to submit applications is August 31, 2024 EST.
Only one application will be accepted per company.
Selection Process
The first three (3) applications received that are complete, acceptable, and meet all the qualifying criteria will be approved for the award. If a student of any of the 3 successful applications fails to complete the co-op term successfully, the award will be made to the next applicant in terms of timing of receipt of the application.
All successful applications will be approved by the Education and Research Council (ERC) prior to payment.
Note: The CISC reserves the right to refuse an application with cause.
