The Government seeks input from the Steel Industry on Carbon Procurement

The Government of Canada is seeking to engage the steel construction supply chain on its proposed strategy to procurement low-carbon steel products for Government of Canada building and infrastructure projects. This embodied carbon procurement strategy is part of the Government of Canada’s Greening Government Strategy (GGS). The proposed program will set embodied carbon caps on all steel product types used for federal construction projects based on each mill not industry averages.

“The Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) is launching this Request for Information (RFI) to engage industry. This RFI seeks feedback from designers (architects and engineers), steel producers, fabricators & suppliers, EPD and LCA practitioners, general contractors, construction managers and all other interested parties.
