This course starts with a review the current methods used to prepare budgets. We will then provide designers with a basic understanding of the six elements of cost that make up a steel budget, identify the components of cost that make up each element and the effect on the final budget, and demonstrate how this knowledge will allow designers to deliver cost effective projects. An example will be presented to show how changes to the information impact the budget price. Spreadsheets will be used to summarize the costs and to demonstrate how changes in the design and specifications can influence the results. The presenter will provide some base line units to use in the preparation of budgets.
