Steel was chosen as the structural material to frame the several entrance canopies on the renovation/addition to Toronto Western Hospital in Toronto. The main canopy is comprised of a curved steel tree system supporting a curved steel roof. This canopy extends to the interior of the space to form the focal point of the main hospital entrance. Canopies to the emergency entrance and other patient entrance/drop off points are also fabricated out of architecturally exposed structural steel.Architectural Category Winner of the 2002 CISC Ontario Region Design Awards.
