Course description
This seminar will provide owners, designers, constructors, fabricators, erectors, building officials and inspection agencies with requirements, recommendations and resources for the inspection of steel-framed buildings. Governing standards and documents discussed include
     • National Building Code of Canada
     • CSA S16-09 Design of Steel Structures
     • CISC Code of Standard Practice for Structural Steel
     • CSA W59-03(09) Welded Steel Construction (Metal Arc Welding)
     • RCSS Specification for Structural Joints Using High Strength Bolts

The elements to be discussed include
     • structural steel materials
     • steel fabrication
     • steel erection
     • welding and welded connections
     • bolting and bolted connections
     • steel joists and joist girders
     • steel floor and roof deck systems.

Discussion will include both detailed technical requirements and methodologies for implementation from both a quality control (production) and quality assurance (third party) inspection perspective. Experience from the new AISC Specification's Chapter N on Quality Control and Quality Assurance will be shared.
