The Jean-Talon Market Project included construction of a new commercial wing, spanning some 20,000 sq. ft. and consisting of indoor shops, outdoor stalls, and a central hall that is enclosed inwinter and open in summer. The steel-frame is exposed and actually forms the architectural character of the building. The steel was carefully treated to give this new area the personality of a public market, and elegantly extend the market's existing structures.

740 Bel-Air is a four-storey building with 15,000 square metres of floor space. Built on the site of an old foundry dating back to 1851, it was designed according tothe principles of sustainable development to incorporate a number of innovations in terms of natural lighting and ventilation, geothermics, solar and radiant heat, as well as water management and optimal use of natural resources, including the reuse of materials such as steel. The main factors that led to the choice of steel were span, rapid assembly, cost, and high recycled content. The use of steel resulted in earning points in three of the six LEED categories.
