As the structural Engineering firm, the biggest challenge Blackwell Bowick met was an impossibly tight schedule combined with several parties directing the design. Effective coordination was key in establishing communication and meeting design deadlines.

To address the tight schedule, steel was selected for the structure. Other contributing factors to the selection of steel structure include lightness, speed of erection, and suitability to disassembly. We worked closely with the steel fabricator. Framing layouts and configurations chosen for simple connection details, eliminating the need for web stiffeners, and locating brace connections at member mid-spans instead of at framing connection points. To allow for disassembly following the event, mechanical connections were used, and the minimum grade beam sizes possible were used.
