One of the key elements was the decision to tender the structural in two packages, one for the main building structural steel and one for theexterior facade support. The design and construction of the structural steel was detailed so that the main structure was constructed in the first erection pass and the steel for the facade was erected in the second pass. This sequencing of erection allowed the design to fully develop the architecture of the buildings and streetscape and allowed for the construction to proceed. The success of this method relied on the cooperation and collaboration between the respective steel fabricators and detailers and the designteam. Meetings between the detailers and the design team focused on the development of details that simplified fabrication and facilitated theerection of the steel elements.
